Effects Of Atorvastatin Treatment On Blood Pressure In Senile Hypertension Patients With Normal Blood Lipids

OBIJECTIVE:To observe the effects and safety of atorvastatin treatment on blood pressure in senile hypertension patients with normal blood lipids.METHODS:In cardiovascular department of the second people’s hospital of hunan province,120senile hypertensive patients with normal blood lipids were randomly divided into two groups (routine anti-hypertensive treatment group and combined statin intervention group). All the patients were treated with traditional anti-hypertensive treatment, and the combined statin intervention group was treatment with additional atorvastatin. The change of blood pressure and biochemical index were observed, and the adverse reactions were recorded.RESULTS:The level of systolic blood pressure (SBP), diastolic blood pressure (DBP) and pulse pressure (PP) were decreased notably after4or8weeks of treatment, the differences were statistical significance (p<0.05). But between routine treatment group and statin intervention group, the blood pressure indexes had no difference (p>0.05). According to blood pressure levels, patients were divided into two sub-groups. In grades1and2hypertension sub-group, there was no difference between routine treatment group and statin intervention group (p>0.05). And in grade3hypertension sub-group, the SBP and PP of statin intervention group were significant decreased than routine treatment group (p>0.05). There is no correlation between antihypertensive and lipid-decreasing effect of atorvastatin (p>0.05).CONCLUSION:After antihypertensive treatment, blood pressure levels in patients were decreased. In grade3hypertension group, atorvastatin has a synergistic effect in anti-hypertensive treatment. The anti-hypertensive effect of atorvastatin has no correlation with its lipid-lowering effect.
