With the great development of science and technology, a progress in one domain will directly or indirectly promote the study of other subjects. There is certainly a process to accept new methods and means. However, it will be digested slowly and absorbed gradually for each subject. Before a further research or practice is made, we can’t jump to make conclusions with questions---whether this kind of new skills or these new perspectives on the discipline play a catalytic role, or whether they can provide assistance for analysing old or new materials. But academic paces are going forward with this constant attempt obviously. This paper is trying to embellish the jobs of dialect description by itemizing, classifying base on the old homophone table and comparing quantitatively available materials from a new angle to do some help for the comparative dialect. The whole article contains three parts. The first part reviews the cur-rent research of the dialects in two places---Nanning and Baise. Besides, general situation and corresponding dialect of them are introduced. From the point of the two homophone table word count and percentage, the s-econd part is comparing the place of articulation, manner of articulation, the height of the tongue, the front-rear position of the tonguebody, the degree of lip rounding(rounded/unrounded), tones, tone pitch and etc. The third part is a summary of the results and several suggestions for the future rese-arch direction. Meanwhile, the deficiency of this paper is po-inted out at last.
