With the deepening of China’s reform and opening-up policies, translation is playinga more and more significant role in cultural communication. As a tool in pushing forwardcommunication activities, it greatly promotes the exchange between different nations inaspects of economy, culture and politics. At present, China has thousands of joint venturesregistered and billions of documents to be translated every year, in which OperatingInstruction is one of them. However, unfortunately, most of them are outsourced totranslation companies instead of done by industry experts, resulting in a special kind oflinguistic phenomenon called "Chinglish", which cannot be understood or accepted bythose workers or engineers. Even worse, the intended meaning is wrongly interpreted.Therefore it severely influences the production quality.For doing a case analysis, this translator, the writer of this paper, uses the translatedOperating Instruction given by the writer from September24th,2012to December14thatSchaeffler Group as the object of a Chinese–English translation. By assessing thetranslated documents, the writer is focused on a number of details and trying to learnvaluable practice experience from those. The writer reflects on the following solutions intranslating Operating Instruction, which are:1. Translate the terminologies correctly.2.Translate the items correctly.3. Translate the sentence patterns correctly.4. Translate thestyles correctly. Proper employment of the solutions can help the translators to the largestextent avoid "Chinglish’ and achieve the expected guiding effect.
