Interpreting In Mechanical Projects

This report analyses interpreter’s roles and the ways to resolve relevant non-linguisticproblems in science and technology interpreting. This report is to fulfill two objectives. First,the increasing amount of science and technology interpreting in China nowadays pose newdirections for interpreting studies. A report on interpreting at meetings for the review ofmechanical designs can provide reference to other interpreters for further probing. The authoranalyzes from initial preparation to problems identified in the process of interpreting. Second,the objective is to clarify the roles of a technical interpreter and how professional backgroundknowledge affecting on interpreting. This report demonstrated the roles of interpreter andfunctions of professional background knowledge through examples.With the intention to discover the weakness of her performances and to unveil the mysticfeeling of science and technology interpreting, the author wishes this report will help peoplebetter understand the active roles of an interpreter and the functions of professionalbackground knowledge. Hence the future practitioners are able to demonstrate their rolesproperly in a comprehensive and rational manner.
