Based on the author’s interpreting practice, this report aims at discussinginterpreter’s role switching and its influential factors. To be more specific, the reportis conducted to fulfill two objectives. First, it targets at studying interpreters’ role playand the factors that affect the role switching by demonstrating detailed cases. Second,the author hopes that it can provide reference for other court interpreters to playdifferent roles during interpreting tasks. This report employs descriptive andanalytical methods.This report first demonstrates the task description for the sake of presenting ageneral map of the interpreting tasks. Then, the author shows her pre-task preparation.The third chapter describes the on-site interpreting task. This part simply presents thetopic of the report: interpreter’s role-play during court interpreting. Then, the authorbegins post-task description part. Chapter five elaborates court interpreter’s roles andits influential factors. The last chapter is the conclusion part.By demonstrating typical cases, the author wants to present interpreters’ positiveroles. She also hopes that other interpreters can learn from this report and can makefull use of interpreter’s subjectivity and smoothly switch roles with the purpose offacilitating communication.
