The Effects Of Acquaintanceship Level On The Accuracy Of Personality Judgment Of College Student

The study of personality is concerned by the social and personality psychologicalresearchers. This is a common research field of them. In the process of personalityjudgment, there are many factors affect its accuracy, such as the diversities ofcharacteristics, judges and judged，the quality and quantity of the information and soon. However, among the various factors, the quality level of acquaintanceship is animportant regulator variable to the judge accuracy, it can affect the obtaining ofinformation, no matter for its quality or quantity, and then influence the accuracy ofpersonality judgment. The researches of abroad found that, there exists anacquaintanceship effect, which is said that who as with judged on a highacquaintanceship level, she or he will make a more accuracy judgment of judged, thatis to said, the consistency between self and others will higher. This research made afuture discuss based on the abroad research achievements and established on thenative social and culture environment, combining the ways of questionnaire andsituational experiments to validate whether there exists acquaintanceship effects andassumed similarity in the accuracy of personality judgment, as well as to exam theeffect of information quantity and quality on the accuracy of personality judgmentunder different acquaintanceship levels. The results suggested that:The research One showed:(1)For Openness, the differences between self-other,self and self-other deviation, others and self-other deviation is remarkable; ForExtroversion and Neuroticism, the differences between self and self-other deviation,others and self-other deviation is remarkable;(2) Except Extroversion, the self-otherdeviation of other dimensions is large, and the judgment of NEO is related withacquaintanceship level, that is to say, there exists acquaintanceship effect in theaccuracy of personality judgment.(3) Judges’ judgment for self and judged relatedwith acquaintanceship level only on Neuroticism. Comparing their deviations foundthat their difference is unremarkable, that is to say, there don’t existing assumedsimilarity in the accuracy of personality judgment.The research Two showed:(1)The self-other consistency of Openness, Conscientiousness and Neuroticism is higher than self-stranger under same observingtime; The consistency of self-other, self-stranger of Openness, Conscientiousness andExtroversion under longer observing time is higher; The self-other consistency ofConscientiousness, Extroversion and Agreeableness is higher than the self-strangerconsistency under different acquaintanceship level and observing time. This suggestedthat more observing time, higher consistency, the quantity of information effect thejudgment of personality.(2)The deviation of self-other is smaller than self-strangerunder same observing time. The more observing time, the smaller deviation ofself-other and self-stranger, that is the more exposing time, the higher consistency.The research Three showed:(1)For Conscientiousness and Agreeableness, theconsistency of self-other is higher than self-stranger under same situation; ForConscientiousness, Extroversion and Agreeableness, the consistency of self-other andself-stranger under stronger situation is higher than weak situation, it is same underdifferent acquaintanceship levels and situations;(2)No matter the consistency ofself-other or self-stranger, the consistency under stronger situation is higher than weaksituation, it suggest that under the different acquaintanceship levels, the quality ofinformation the judges obtained effects the accuracy of personality judgment.
