| The ability to control behavior enables humans to live cooperatively, achieveimportant goals and maintain health throughout their life span. Although humanshave an impressive capacity for self-regulation, failures are common and people losecontrol of their behavior in a wide variety of circumstances. Such failures are animportant cause of several contemporary societal problems.One of the more influential theories to emerge from this research is thatself-regulation draws on a common domain-general resource, so that, for example,regulating one’s emotions over an extended period of time impairs subsequentattempts at resisting the temptation to eat appetizing foods and results in disinheritedeating. From the perspective of personality traits, this study will on the basis of selfcontrol resource model, study quality loss of self control and self control loss aftereffect about you (self control failure) the role of the mechanism, with three completemethods of the questionnaires, experiments and event related potential technique.Study1is Scale-Revised. The appropriate choice of scale is to amend Tangneypreparation of the "self-control scale, and test the reliability and validity. The scale isused to filter out the high and low self-control levels were tested. The revised scaleshas good reliability and validity, including a focus on work, health habits, and actssensibly, and resist the temptation to suppress impulses five dimensions.Study2aimed to further test the influence of self-control traits on ego depletionand verify that under the condition of self-control traits wills the self-control result inmore ego depletion. In the experiment, the2(high trait vs. low trait) x2(self-control vs.without self-control) experimental designs were adopted. Experiment2results showthat the loss of self control and self control level significant main effect on thereaction time, high ego depletion group reaction time was significantly longer than thelow ego depletion group of participants, the high level of self control group reactiontime was significantly longer than the low level of self control group; Self controllevel and the loss of self in the reaction time under the condition of interaction significantly, under the condition of high level, high and low loss reaction group,under the condition of low, high loss reaction significantly longer than the low lossgroup.Study3, ERP experiment. On the basis of the experiment2, using the eventrelated potential (ERP) technology to study under the same level of self control,different ego depletion of the individuals in the subsequent self control task is thereany difference of event related potential. The experimental results show that the twogroups of subjects in the Go-NoGo task, both NoGo-N2effect and NoGo-P3effect. High and low loss group in NoGo-N2amplitude, incubation period and NoGo-P3amplitude, difference did not reach significant difference on the incubationperiod. |
