In ancient China, monks always held blessing ceremonies for emperor in Buddhist temple. The blessing ceremony for emperor is not exist in the original Indian Buddhism but appears in ancient China, this is due to the influence of Chinese traditional culture. Zen blessing ceremony for emperor is arise in Song Dynasty and thrive enduring more than one thousand years. This paper treat the blessing ceremony for emperor as the main object of study, attempts to discuss its classification, rituals and evolvement depend on the materials offered by the rules and prohibitions in Zen monastery. At the same time, this paper focuse on the social and cultural significance of the ceremony by research its development trends.
