Translation Strategies Of Political Essay From English To Chinese In The Perspective Of Newmark’s Text-type Function Theory

Political essay, as a type of pragmatic translation, aims at transmitting the information in consideration of communication effect. The National Strategy For Combating Terrorism which was unveiled by the Bush administration in February,2003showed that America would combat terrorist shelters and act alone when it was necessary. With this strategy as research sample, this thesis aims to analyze the translation from the perspective of expressive function, informative function and vocative function and intends to conclude some notices and tactics in the translation political essay in order to provide some experience related to this kind of materials and demonstrate that Newmark’s text-type theory is of instructive significance in the translation of political essay. These three functions provide the translation orientation in aspect of the purposes, criterion and tactics.
