Northern Dynasties began in the1st year of Deng’guo under thereign of the Tuoba Xianbei Emirates Tuoba Gui in the Wei Dynasty(AD386),to the9th year of Kai Huang under the reign of theEmpress Yang jian in the Sui Dynasty (AD589).Northern DynastiesInclude five Dynasties: the Northern Wei Dynasty, the Eastern WeiDynasty and the Northern Qi Dynasty, the Western Wei Dynasty andthe Northern Zhou Dynasty, which lasted two hundred years. Duringthis period, moral codes,conflict一ridden, Hu Han communicationsocial background, cause the phenomenon beyond ceremony ofnorthern clans1Marital Relationship. These phenomena in the northof the family relationship are buried under the disharmoniousfactors, and the impacts the traditional patriarchal order of theclans’ family. This paper focus on how the Northern Dynasties’dominators and northern clans’ families eliminate these negativeeffects.In this paper, the first chapter introduces the northernmatrimony. Some new phenomena appear in Northern clans’marriage, which against the traditional family patriarchal order,such as Polygamy and took numerous concubines. Traditionalpatriarchal family orders has been challenged by Divorce and remarriage. And the further development of ghost marriage alsocause certain influence to the Northern family order.The second chapter discusses Polygamy and took numerousconcubines the characteristics and existing reason of Polygamyand took numerous concubines in Northern matrimony. NorthernDynasties’ dominators did not decide to encourage than toeliminate the existence of Polygamy and took numerous concubinesphenomena. So, to distinguish which the son is born of the legalwife is no longer a problem within the family, and may interferenceby political forces.The third chapter studies on the problem of NorthernDynasties’ divorce and remarry. The answer of this problem is thatpeople in northern have had open concept; Second, northern clans’divorce and remarriage always been interferenced by politicalfactors. Division of family property on divorce, the husband shouldgive his wife a dowry, but his wife did not have the right to split thehusband family property. After they divorced, their children shouldbe raised by the male-family, also they can be raised by the family ofwife. Remarried families husband has absolute authority todetermine the marriage of his stepchildren.In fourth chapter,this article focuses on ghost weddings in WeiJin northern and southern dynasties. Ghost weddings refer to theunmarried young dead relatives choose marriage object, and form arelationship of marriage. Ghost weddings are meaningless for thedead, but the relatives are insisting on doing this, and alsostepchildren for the dead to inherit their blood. These behaviorshows love of the family, also reflected the northern ghost weddings for maintenance and destruction of the traditional family order.
