With China’s accession to the WTO and the strengthening of international economic integration, China’s international tourism also stride on new steps. China is now a big tourist country. English is an international language, tourism English appears as a special variety of English, it becomes popular and necessary in Chinese tourism, and its level is directly related to the level of hospitality tourism, so tourism calls for the specialized high quality talent that master tourism English. In order to meet the demands of the uprising international tourism, tourism English teaching thriving and bears new mission and challenge in the new age. Tourism English teaching in secondary vocational school is becoming more and more important. Tourism English teaching is a component of English teaching, but it has its own professional abilities, such as the students’foundation in English is poor, and their psychological differences between the individuals is big; In secondary vocational schools, there is a serious shortage of teachers, and the teaching methods is not good. Therefore, we should take some positive and effective methods in the tourism English teaching.The author made a survey about the situation of tourism English teaching in secondary vocational in Lushan county and analyze the reasons, on the basis of this puts forward the corresponding countermeasures, This thesis based on task-based teaching method being applied to the English teaching experiment, by comparing and analyzing the test results from different classes, it indicates that task-based teaching method is helpful to improving students’English abilities, so it has great significance. I hope it may be a little helpful for our country tourism professional English teaching and learning.This thesis consists of seven chapters. Chapterl briefly introduces the background, the significance(including the theoretical significance and the practical significance) and the organization of the thesis. Chapter2expounds literature review, it includes foreign research status and development trend and domestic research status and development trend. Chapter3mainly talk about the related theory and research, including basic concepts, theoretical basis, meaning and characteristics, teaching principles and procedures of implementing of the task-based teaching method. Chapter4discuss English teaching situation in secondary vocational schools and the significance that the task-based teaching method to the improvement of the English teaching situation in the secondary vocational schools. Chapter5demonstrates empirical study that task-based teaching method used in tourism English teaching in secondary vocational school:the author conducts a teaching experiment for12weeks through many ways, such as, interview, pre-tests, post-tests and questionnaires. The experiment was carried out in the experimental class and the control class. The author gave the experimental class the task-based language teaching, while the control class received the traditional teaching model. Chapter6for the analysis of experimental results and comparison, based on the results of statistics, the author mainly analyses pre-test, post-test and questionnaires, the results indicate that the implementation of task-based teaching method can effectively develop the subjects’ English competence and improve their interests on learning English. The thesis concludes in Chapter7, implications, limitations and suggestions for future research will be discussed here.
