For the last few years, the international relations between Ukraine and China isbecoming more and more frequent, the right usage of polite words plays important role in thecommunication between two nations. The right usage of polite words, and apologizing rulesin particular is one of the most urgent research topics for the modern language expertsnowadays. The usage of apologizing rules shows culture differences and has a greatinfluence on the communication between different people.There may occur a lot of misunderstandings while Ukrainians are studying Chineselanguage and frequently use Chinese apologies. Jiayuxin(1997)considers that a lot ofdifferent misunderstandings may occur through cultural differences, society levels andhumans behavior, so called:“pragmatic transfer”. Our research is aimed to overcome theinfluence of the native Ukrainian language and to make the speakers able to use Chineseapologies correctly.From the point of the apologies usage, in this diploma paper we try to research thedifferences between the rules of making apologies in Chinese and Ukrainian languages.According to the differences in grammar, styles, and users of apologies in two languages weconducted the comparative analysis. Through the questionnaire survey analysis of thelanguage users in two countries, we singled out the main characteristic features of makingapologies and the most common errors of Ukrainian students while studying Chineselanguage.
