"Scientific revolution" is a frequently used term, in the historiography of science,"scientific revolution" has become one of the most authoritative section. However, in the writings of both philosophers of science and the historians of science,"scientific revolution" is a highly controversial issue. The arguments of "scientific revolution" are mainly shown as the debates between internal history and external history, mutation and evolution, each has its own value and importance, who can’t simply say which is better. Meanwhile, these theories focus on the different sides of the scientific revolution, appear the trend of mutual penetration and mutual complement. Therefore, we could not only understand why the view of the scientific revolution between Kuhn and Shapin is distinct, but also make the view of the scientific revolution of Kuhn and Shapin have the comparability. Both Kuhn and Shapin are famous western philosophers of science and historians of science in20th century. Kuhn argues for scientific revolution, but Shapin believes scientific revolution does not exist. At the same time, their purpose of the historiography of science, research object and methodology also have differences. Kuhn’s research object is the scientific revolutions, Shapin’s research object is the modern experimental science; Kuhn’s theory of historiography is the paradigm theory, Shapin’s historiography theory is the Strong Programs. Kuhn’s historiography method is mainly the combination of holism and historicism, Shapin’s historiography method is the combination of historicism and social constructivism.Although the views of the scientific revolution between Kuhn and Shapin are obvious different, but they also have something in common. To analysis the thought source, the view of the scientific, the contributions and limitations of the two scholars, not only helps us to comb the process and developing trend of the western scholars’ studies about the historiography of science, but also helps us to reflect on their weaknesses, use their achievements for reference, so as to enrich the historiography of scientific revolution in our county.
