Under the guidance of new principles and methods of advanced sequence stratigraphy, sedimentary petrology, reservoir geology and petroleum geology as well as previous findings, the thesis focus on carboniferous sand and claystone of Kalashayi Formation in LunNan Sangtamu and Sangnan area in northern Tarim Basin. Analysis on macro and micro levels and the method of multiple stratigraphic division are used during the process. Based on detailed layer division and contrast, collection and description on previous findings and indoor observation on core and rock slice, and investigation on dynamic data covering logging, earthquake and production, Carboniferous sand and claystone in LunNan area can be divided into three sublayers as S1, S2and S3. Sedimentary distribution and sedimentary types in Kalashayi Formation in LunNan Sangtamu and Sangnan area are studied through the study on petrological characteristics and sedimentary facies of76wells there. The result indicates that sedimentary facies types of carboniferous sand and claystone of Kalashayi Formation in LunNan Sangtamu and Sangnan area are delta, tidal-flat, lagoon and platform facies, and microfacies as delta plain, delta front, prodelta, tide, intertidal, subtidal and more than ten subfacies types.Based on the comparative study on lithologic and stratigraphic subdivision of layer, core observation and the single well sedimentary facies, as well as the analysis on sedimentary facies and palaeogeography as ancient landform of Sangtamu and Sangnan area and comparasion between four sequence stratigraphy and sedimentary connected wells profile, the development of sand mudstone facie is determined. Quantitive method, combined with single factor analysis method is adopted to explain facies of different stages. Features of different rocks such as conglomerate, sandstone, and in addition, the ratio of thickness of various rocks and thickness of strata are studied. Methods such as single well sedimentary facies description, sedimentary facies profile correlation and geological modeling of sand body are all applied with regional sedimentary background. Under the principle of combing the favorable and special facies, the facies distribution in different stages is confirmed and the sedimentary facies evolution mode is established, which not only determine the favorable reservoir facies belt, but also provide scientific geology evidence for further exploration.
