In contemporary society, with the development of mechnical industrial products continuing to individualized、precision and light weight, the market for the number and quality requirement machining centers are also increasing.More and more components processing are not satisfied by consumers only X axis、Y axis、Z axis linkage machine tools,but also require B axis and U axis linkage for combined processing.CNC Facing Head is a type of machine tool accessories,which possesses U axis function.This CNC Facing Head discussed in the paper is assembled in Boring Machine、 Machining centres and specialized machine tool can achieve the function of U axis, finishing lots of difficult processings which can not accomplish at common machine tool。 For example,major diameters of holes and excircle,dimension surfaces、head face and other species of complex surfaces.The main contents of this paper:First,the primary modeling of CNC Facing Head all parts are completed by the three dimension design software UGNX6.0on the basis of a company origin design drawings,and then the whole model is united by virtual assembly and space detection.Then, the CNC Facing Head whole structure model is analyzed through UG itself motion simulate module,the reasonablity of whole structure is examined when the model being simulated.The modification of Facing Head parts are executed when problems are found according to the result of motion analyze.Finally,the finite element analysis attaches to key parts of facing head are executed by ANSYSWorkbench to check the mechanical properties,to sum up mechanical model and to set up the optimum model.Then associating with the requirement of design—on the base of the initial weight of facing head900kilogram,reducing15percentage according to optical analysis—the whole weight is down to about765kilogram.Thus part of components are optimized until obtaining the satisfactory end of result.Virtual prototype technology as a new type of technical means,can accelerate the speed of product development,shorten the exploration cycles,reduce the research costs and lesson unnecessary casualties.In order to verify the safe reliabilities of Facing Head further and illustrative of the modification for all the parts.The parts of Facing Head are checked by the finite element analysis software ANSYSWorkbench.
