Nowadays the hot metal ladle as an important tool of hot metal loading and transporting in the iron and steel metallurgy enterprises is more and more widely used with the high speed development of metallurgical industry. With the continuous renewal of the metallurgical industry equipments, a higher demand was proposed to the service performance of the hot metal ladle. Further analyses and researches are doing to the properties of the hot metal ladle including dilatancy, prolong life, preventing the temperature loss too fast, and so on. Using the computer technology to carry out the three dimensional digitized simulation design and the performance analysis to the hot metal ladle has become a main method.This topic is originated from a practical project of the AISC affiliated enterprises. According to the requirement, we redesigned structure, doing research and analysis in order to make sure distribution law of stress-strain of 120 t hot metal ladle body and car in certain conditions and find out weak point to improve on. Firstly, we did preliminary design to the structure of ladle body and researched capsizal characteristics of it under dumping the hot metal condition. In terms of the working conditions of the hot metal ladle and the tank body, we set up the FEM calculation model of the hot metal ladle, and made FEM analysis to the hot metal tank body and the tanker frame and bogies. At the same time, the temperature field analysis to ladle body was carried out as well. In addition the experimentizing and testing work was carried on to the tanker frame and bogies, in order to further verified the reliability of theoretical analysis.According to main objects of research in the finite element analysis, we solved and analysised to the hot metal ladle with the integral method, and neglected the interaction of the hot metal and the tank body, so simplified the solving process, and provided certain guiding significance for analysis the similar large complex structures from now. The reliability and the accuracy of the finite element method was further verified,and the theoretical basis was provided for the reconstruction design of the enterprise.
