Study On Application Of Project Time Management In The Design Project Of R Copper Concentrator

Under the background of the current world economic integration, Chinese enterprises are gradually exposed to the international competition arena, facing increasing competition pressure. As the changing of economic environment, in order to survive and develop, enterprises are necessary to carry out some changes to adapt to the environment. Many enterprises have been looking for changing to their business management methods, adopting the world’s advanced management methods to improve their core competitiveness. The project time management in China starts late, however, it has been now applied by many enterprises to project management practice. China Nerin Engineering Co., Ltd. is a company that undertakes all kinds of engineering survey, design, supervision and EPCM project. In 2011 the company signed the contract of designing of Rocklands Copper Mine Concentrator (referred to as R copper) in Australia. The project has been completed feasibility study report, the next step will be preliminary design and detailed design work. The main specialties involved in this project is mineral processing, and auxiliary specialties including general layout & transportation, civil engineering, water supply & drainage, electrical & instrumentation, HVAC, and it has certain representativeness.On the basis of domestic and international theory about project management and project time management, this paper applies the project time management methods to R Copper project, through project Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) to carry out specialty designing ordering, project resource estimation, schedule estimation and preparation; through analyzing outstanding character of time management, preparing time controlling method and corresponding risk management during project design. Through effective time management of this project, this paper not only provides reliable guarantee to complete qualified project timely and smoothly, but also improving company project management level, meanwhile, providing valuable guidance and reference to other similar concentrator design projects.
