Anthaquinone acid dye is one of the important kinds of acid dyes. C.I. Acid Blue 25 (1-Amino-4-phenylaminoanthaquinone-2-sulfonic acid) is bright brilliant in color and good in fastness, used to dyeing wool, silk, synthetic textiles etc.Based on the review of the Bibliographer and the devalepment of the Enterprise the novel process for synthesis of C.I. Acid Blue 25 starting from 1-Amino-4-bromoanthaquinone-2-sulfonic acid and aniline under the action of catalyst was studied. The optimum reaction conditions were evaluated and selected as follows:the molar ratio of 1-Amino-4-bromoanthaquinone-2-sulfonic and aniline was 1.0:1.5, CUSO4·5H2O and glucose monohydrate were selected as catalyst with the amount of about 1%. The reaction solvent is water and isopropyl alcohol(8.0%), NaHCO3 was used as the acid binding agent to control the value of pH yet, just react about 5.0 h at 70-75℃, and the yield of the reaction was about 95%. The recycling of isopropyl alcohol and aniline were feasible, and the product yield was not changed significantly. The recovery rate of aniline was more than 65%, yet that of isopropyl alcohol was more than 80%.Based on the data of experiments, the rational process and parameters were evaluated. The process set and reactors were designed. The results of the process data in test of the practical set were accorded with those of the experiments. The process was confirmed in practice. The whole system was stable, and the yield of the product could meet the design requirements, yet the quality of the products was equal to or better than the products in the market. There was some profit space by cost estimating, which provided a good theoretical guidance and basis for the devalepment of the Enterprise and the further design and optimization of the process for dye products.
