When the downhole oil-water hydrocyclone works,produced liquid entering the oil-water hydrocyclone separator usually contains a lot of water,natural gas and fine sand and other impurities.Sand directly affect the separation effect of the hydrocyclone. In this paper, the FLUENT software is used to simulate and analyze the spiral flow hydrocyclone in the case of different sand content and different inlet particle size.Through comparative analysis,it is found that: at first under the condition of the same structure and operating parameters,separation efficiency of the hydrocyclone is to be increased along with the increase of the sediment content in hydrocyclone and then decreases with increase in sediment concentration; The effect of the tangential velocity and axial velocity of the hydrocyclone is not affected by the increase of sand content, but the pressure loss of the overflow port decreases obviously with the increase of sand content.The pressure loss of the overflow decreased with the augment of sediment concentration increasing.When the size of the solid particles in the hydrocyclone separator is increased, the oil content near the overflow port increases slightly, but the change is not very big.The tangential velocity and axial velocity of the swirl chamber increase obviously, but the radial velocity decreases.The pressure loss of the overflow port increases gradually with the increase of inlet particle size.When the sand content is certain, the separation efficiency of the hydrocyclone will be increased when the oil content of the mixture in the cyclone separator is gradually increased.Through the numerical simulation analysis,the influence of sand in the produced fluid is obtained on the downhole hydrocyclone separator.Structure parameters,physical parameters and operation parameters of spiral flow hydrocyclone are optimally designed,including the overflow size,overflow into length,flow rate,flow and oil content affecting on the separation efficiency,etc.
