In order to improve the insufficient of glass cutting system in the domestic, this paper proposed a design method of the control system of the glass cutting machine. The system was based on the requirements of the glass cutting process, using the computer and GTS motion control card as the core, and extends servo systems, transducer and other structure of control equipment. There were a certain optimization and promotion on system integration, motion control, software design and other aspects.GTS motion control card, has the ability of linear interpolation, circular interpolation and cutting tool turning and many mature motion control algorithms, can meet the basic requirements of the glass cutting motion control. According to the structure of glass cutting machine, the control object, control task and control requirements of the machine were studied. The servo drive system and advanced machining technology were used to ensure the accuracy of the system. Design cutting, editing software and control software were used to ensure the efficient operation and real-time monitoring of the system. The stability of the system was guaranteed by the mature electrical structure. In this paper, the overall design of the upper computer software of the glass cutting machine was made. Some problems, such as the import of graphic data of glass products, contour resolution of irregular shaped glass slices, cutting path planning problem in cutting process, and path file generation, were discussed.Aiming at the current situation that the complex trace was discretized into small line blocks and arcs frequently in the glass cutting procession, the acceleration and deceleration model of trapezoid and S were researched. Then, the constraint conditions for the speed of contour connection points was determined based on geometrical features of straight line segments. After that, the theory and implementation of predictive control was analyzed and trapezoidal acceleration and deceleration mode was selected. Finally, a speed predictive control method which can determine the number of predictive segments was proposed. As a result, the whole constraint of velocity curve in cutting process was realized, and efficiency of the system and the continuity and stability of cutting motion were improved.The software of the system was developed by using Visual C++6.0. After debugging and running of the system, it has been used in the actual production of glass cutting.
