With the researches and developments of composites, the co-continuous ceramic composites gradually reflect excellent impact resistance. It’s important to apply an optimization design to the composites to improve the mechanical properties. In this paper, the 3D model reconstruction method of co-continuous SiC3D/Al composites was studied firstly. Then numerical simulation was adopted to study the dynamic behavior by ANSYS. Optimization design was applied in second phase materials, volume fractions and two-phase distribution characters. Finally, a composite three-dimensional modelling software platform was developed. The main research content of this paper is as follows:(1) A statistic-based optimized generation method was developed to reconstruct 3D model of co-continuous SiC3D/Al composites. An Otsu method was adapted to the pre-processing of composite SEM image. Generation core distribution principles were proposed to obtain the 2D matrix and generation core distribution matrix. A simulated annealing method was adapted to optimize the 3D generation core distribution. The generation process was proposed with a modified directional growth probability in QSGS method to obtain the 3D model of co-continuous SiC3D/Al composites. Volume fraction, fractal dimension, two-phase interface area, line length and two-point correlation function of the reconstructed model were calculated to compare with a Micro-CT reconstructed model to verify the accuracy of the reconstruction method.(2) Numerical simulation was adopted to research the mechanical properties of co-continuous SiC3D/Al composites under an impact loading condition. Then an optimization design was proposed. Composite 3D models with different second phase materials, volume fractions and two-phase distribution characters were reconstructed by statistic-based optimized generation method. Numerical simulations were applied to these models by the same loading condition to research the dynamic behavior influenced by second phase materials, volume fractions and two-phase distribution characters.(3) A composite three-dimensional modelling software platform was developed consisting of a MATLAB-based 3D solid model reconstruction package, a ANSYS/LS-DYNA-based 3D finite element model reconstruction package and a MATLAB-based model verification and statistical analysis package. The 3D model of co-continuous ceramic composites was reconstructed automatically. The volume fraction, fractal dimension, two-phase interface area, line length and two-point correlation function were also calculated in the automatic reconstruction process.
