Structure, properties and application in radial tire tread of three kind of Sylvatraxx resin produced by Arizona Chemical were thoroughly researched in the thesis. Based on practical formula, some adjustments were made aiming to obtain the best processing technology and investigate the influence of Sylvatraxx resin amount on tread properties under above best processing technology. Results showed that ring structure existed in all three Sylvatraxx resins, which made a foundation of good compatibility with SSBR. Glass transition and soften temperature located between 40oC-65 oC and 85oC-120 oC, respectively. High glass transition temperature of Sylvatraxx resin can impel the matrix move to high temperature zone and thus improve the tanδ of 0oC.The application of Sylvatraxx resin in SSBR and BR basic formula revealed that resin could lower minimum torque and extended cure time of compound. In SSBR basic formula, three kind of different Sylvatraxx resin could improve Akron abrasion resistance, where Sylvatraxx4150 most obviously. However, Sylvatraxx resin brought bad effects about tensile strength, tear strength, heat built-up and Akron abrasion resistance in BR basic formula. Besides, Sylvatraxx resin could decrease Payne Effect of CB filled SSBR and BR, enhancing filler dispersion and tanδ at 0oC with slightly improvement at 60 oC.The application of Sylvatraxx resin in practical formula showed that Sylvatraxx4401 characterized best combination properties with first round initial mixing temperature at 100 oC, rotor speed at 80 rpm and added before filler; Sylvatraxx4202 with first round initial mixing temperature at 80 oC, rotor speed at 80rpm; Sylvatraxx4150 with first round initial mixing temperature at 90 oC, rotor speed at 90 rpm.Sylvatraxx4401/4202 could enhance the filler dispersion in rubber matrix and lower Payne Effect and thus decrease heat built-up, Akron abrasion volume and make a better balance of tanδ at 0oC and tanδ at 60oC; But on the other hand, the addition could slow down the cure speed and modulus, which lead to tire tread strength decrease. |
