ObjectiveThis research paper aims at studying the effect of treatment of acne selecting the five shu points together with fire-needle compared with that of treatment selecting the usual acupuncture points together with fire-needle.MethodsScreened by diagnosis of acne and syndrome differentiation,60patients were selected randomly and separated into2equal groups for experiments. Treatment of selection of the five shu points together with fire-needle was set up as the experimental group and treatment of selection of the usual acupuncture points together with fire-needle was set up as the control group. All patients received treatment every2days, three times a week. One course of treatment lasted for one month while each patient took2courses. Syndromes, signs and side effects of the patients were observed and recorded every2weeks to follow. A scale of score was made to follow the condition of acne. Data was collected and analysed systematically.Results1. There was not any obvious difference including gender, age and syndromes in between2groups of patients. So the2sets of data were comparable.2. According to the comparison of acne scale scores of the2sets before and after the treatment, P<0.05. Both groups of patients recovered significantly.3. There was no meaning in the field of statistics for the acne scale scores before treatment in both groups. The sets were more comparable. However the data of the scale of scores after treatment of both, P>0.05, suggests that both treatments were effective without much difference. 4. For the comparison of the recovery time of both sets, P<0.05. The recovery time of the experimental group is shorter than that of the control group. It suggests that the experimental group performed better in this area.ConclusionIt is found that both treatments are effective but treatment applying five shu points together with fire-needle is significantly more efficient in term of recovery time. The five shu points located at the far ends of four limbs, below elbows and knees, are the reflexes of the meridian system and correspond to the specific zang-fu organs. They are easy to be spotted and relatively safe for acupuncture. This treatment of selection of the five shu points together with fire-needle promotes the recovery of acne and demonstrates a convincing clinical success. |
