Background: A typical feature of arterial stiffness is the change of structure anddysfunction of arteries, which is a common pathophysiological basis of cardiac andcerebrovascular diseases. European Society of Cardiology recommended forcarotid-femora pulse wave velocity(cf-PWV), that is, the determination of aortic pulsewave velocity (aPWV) as reflected arterial stiffness of the gold standard, as a tool inorder to assess subclinical target organ damage. But traditional cf-PWV measurement, the operation is relatively complicated, there is a greater measurement error for surfacedistance. The brachial-ankle pulse wave velocity (ba-PWV) has good correlation withaPWV, and effectiveness of ba-PWV, reliability and repeatability has also beenconfirmed. In addition, simple, convenient, conducive to study a large sample. Objective: Using a retrospective method to investigate the risk factors of cardiovasculardisease populations for medical population:1.Distribution of ba-PWV in the physicalpopulation.2. The differences of ba-PWV in age and gender.3. Analysis theindependent risk factor of ba-PWV for reducing arterial stiffness and proposingprevention strategies of cardiovascular disease.4. The relationship between ba-PWVand cardiovascular disease.5. Analysis the risk factors of ba-PWV to specialpopulations (patients with hypertension, diabetes population) for preventing andcontrolling risk factors of cardiovascular events. Methods: June2013t o December2013,Beijing Air Force General Hospital MedicalCenter1174cases volunteers, aged30-84years old, male699cases,475cases, allsubjects were used in Japan Colin’s automatic artery stiffness tester automaticdetermination of bilateral ba-PWV, while measuring blood biochemical indicators andin the form of questionnaires to collect smoking, drinking, cerebral infarction, coronary heart disease, hypertension, diabetes, family history (coronary heart disease, cerebralinfarction, hypertension and diabetes family history).Results:1.The population with abnormal623cases,53.1%in the physical population.2.For age≤50years of age, the ba-PWV (1364.5(240.3) cm/s) of man higher thanwomen ’s ba-PWV (1291.0(235.1) cm/s), the difference was statistically significant (P<0.01), while age>50years of age, the ba-PWV were significantly abnormal, men’sba-PWV1535.5(402.0) cm/s, women ’s ba-PWV1627.5(351.5) cm/s, the differencewas statistically significant (P <0.01).3.Logistic regression, age (OR=1.31, P <0.01),gender (OR=0.586, P <0.05), smoking (OR=1.237, P <0.05), heart rate (OR=1.041,P <0.01), BMI (OR=0.689, P <0.05), systolic blood pressure (OR=1.072, P <0.01),fasting glucose (OR=1.280, P <0.01), uric acid (OR=1.004, P <0.01), hypertension(OR=2.123, P <0.01) is ba-PWV anomaly independent factors.4.For the people withcoronary heart disease or cerebral infarction, the ba-PWV significantly higher, its valuewas1663.54±352.97cm/s and1719.18±450.19cm/s (P <0.05).5.Logistic regressionof ba-PWV for special populations shows heart rate (OR=1.051,95%CI=1.020-1.083,P <0.01), the age (OR=1.068,95%CI=1.085-1.177, P <0.01), smoking (OR=1.860,95%CI=1.066-3.224) and systolic blood pressure (OR=1.068,95%CI=1.042-1.094, P <0.01).Conclusion:1. Abnormal rate of ba-PWV is higher in the medical groups higher.2Foraged≤50years old, the ba-PWV of men higher than women’s, but age>50year-old,women’s ba-PWV was significantly higher than men’s.3. Age, smoking, sex,BMI, heartrate, systolic blood pressure, fasting glucose, uric acid, hypertension is a independentrisk factor of ba-PWV.4.The ba-PWV was significantly higher for persons withcoronary heart disease or cerebral infarction.5.Heart rate, age, smoking and systolicblood pressure are the independent risk factor for the persons with hypertension and/ordiabetes.6.Active moderate exercise, smoking cessation, effective and timely control ofblood pressure, blood glucose, uric acid levels are of very important significance formitigating arterial stiffness and preventing of cardiovascular events occurring.
