ObjectiveThrough the observation of Treatment Group (chushiweilingtang together with acupuncture) and Control Group (chushiweilingtang) in treating chronic eczema patients and the comparison of their before-after EASI evaluation and pruritus degree evaluation, this paper will evaluate the clinical curative effective of these two groups and offer the better solution to treat chronic eczema.MethodsRandomly divide80investigated chronic eczema patients into2groups, i. e. Control Group and Treatment Group, each of40cases. For Treatment Group, patients drink the chushiweilingtang (consisting of10g of Cangzhu,10g of Chenpi,10g of Houpo,3g of Rougui,10g of Baizhu,10g of Zexie,10g of Zhuling,10g of Fuling,10g of Huashi,10g of Fangfeng,10g of Zhizi,10g of Chuanmutong,6g of Gancao etc.) and receive acupuncture treatment at the same time. While for Control Group, patients only drink the traditional Chinese medicine (chushiweilingtang). The traditional Chinese medicine is provided by the First Affiliated Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine University of Guangzhou. This decocted medicine is taken once a day. The acupuncture treatment is applied once every other day. The whole treatment period is4weeks. The EASI and pruritus degree before and after the treatment are respectively evaluated and noted down on the observation sheet.ResultsBefore hospitalization, variance analysis was made with respect to the age, gender and course of disease etc. of the two investigated groups. Since result was P>0.05, the difference is not statistically significant, and thus these two groups are comparable. 1. EASI Evaluation:Among38cases in Treatment Group,7of them are recovered,23show excellent improvement,4show effective improvement and4show no improvement. In short,78.95%of the group show excellent improvement, and89.47%show effective improvement. While among37cases in Control Group,2of them are recovered,11show excellent improvement,6show effective improvement and18show no improvement. In short,35.14%of the group show excellent improvement, and51.35%show effective improvement. As the X2check within the group shows, P for both groups is<0.05, which means the difference is statistically significant, which further means both groups show improvement in skin lesion after treatment. As the X2check between these two groups shows, the difference is statistically significant, indicating Treatment Group is more effective than Control Group.2. Pruritus degree evaluation:Pruritus degree is better for both Treatment Group and Control Group after treatment, but Treatment Group shows more improvement than Control Group.3. Symptom evaluation in EASI evaluation:after treatment, symptoms of erythema, Hard lump,(oedema)/papule, epidermal desquamation show obvious improvement, but for lichenification, exudation/incrustation, the treatment shows little curative effect.ConclusionTaking traditional Chinese medicine together with acupuncture treatment is more effective than merely taking traditional Chinese medicine in treating chronic eczema.
