| ObjectiveIn this randomized controlled trial, efficacy of the adjunct points of Xi-cleft point and eight influential points on CSR were observed and compared with one of normal points. Giving a preliminary evaluation on efficacy of the adjunct points of Xi-cleft point and eight influential points, this study provides a reference for acupuncture practitioners.Methods60patients with CSR were recruited from the acupuncture department of the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine. Subjects were randomly divided into2groups. Electroacupuncture with normal points was administered to both groups. Points applied of both side included Da zhui, Tian zhu, Hou xi and cervical Jiaji Points. Adjunct points of Xi-cleft point and the marrow influential point (Xuan zhong)were administered to experiment group. Xi-cleft points of three-yang-meridians were chosen according to subjects’meridian syndrome. Subjects were treated every day for10days. The efficacy was measured by NPQ and SF-36drafts.Results60subjects complete the study,30of each group. The baseline showed no significant difference. General efficacy of both group had no significant difference (P>0.05).Scores of NPQ(P<0.01) and SF-36drafts(P<0.05) improved significantly in all the groups. Difference value of NPQ scores of the2groups were of significant difference (P<0.05). Difference value of SF-36points on physical aspects (physical functioning, role physical, bodily pain, general health) of the2groups were of no significant difference P >0.05). Difference value of SF-36points on mental aspects (vitality, social functioning, role emotional, mental health) of the2groups were of significant difference P<0.05)Conclusions1. efficacy of the adjunct points of Xi-cleft point and eight influential points on CSR is common with one of normal points.2. In decrease of NPQ scores, the2treatments have common efficacy.3. Both treatment can improve SF-36. For improvement of mental aspects, the adjunct points of Xi-cleft point and eight influential points were more effective than normal points. For improvement of physical aspects, the two groups showed no difference. |
