Objective:The present study was aimed to identify the prevalence of depressive and anxiety symptoms in cervical cancer patients in Hunan province. To determine relationship between depressive, anxiety symptoms and Socio-demographic economics characteristics, disease-related conditions, social support.Methods:1.Objects:From2013Jan to2013April, a total of200cervical cancer patients were selected in Xiangya Hospital of Central South University, Second Xiangya Hospital of Central South University, Hunan Provincial Tumor Hospital. Patients without mental illness, disturbance of consciousness and other major diseases were asked to voluntarily participate in the survey.2.Methods:Questionnaires of self-designed general conditions and factors, self-rating depression scale(SDS), self-rating anxiety scale(SAS) and social support revalued scale(SSRS) were administered to200patients with cervical cancer.3. Data analysis:Using SPSS16.0to deal with data. The scores were calculated and analyzed with descriptive, Univariate analysis, Person correlation analysis and Logistic regression model to determine the influential factors.Results:. We collected196valid questionnaires (91.8%). The majority study objects were young people of that the mean age was44.4±8.6. Most of objects were farmers and unemployed, education under high school. The prevalence of depressive symptoms was23.0%, and that of moderate to severe depressive symptoms was6.1%. The prevalence of anxiety symptoms was23.5%, and that of moderate to severe anxiety symptoms was7.1%. Univariate analysis showed:Incidence of depressive symptoms among different age, different average annual income of family, different personalities, preoperative suffering from the disease, different degree of pain, disease knowledge to understand the situation of cervical cancer, family or friends suffered from other cancers, and different social support had significant statistical difference (P<0.05); Incidence of anxiety symptoms among different age, different professions, different education, different medical insurance, preoperative suffering from the disease, different degree of pain, different postoperative worried that the situation, family or friends suffered from other cancers, different social support had significant statistical difference (P<0.05)Nonconditional logistic regression analysis showed:older than45years old, the average annual household income of less than10,000yuan, moderate pain and severe pain, lack of knowledge of cervical disease, low level of social support were risk factors for depression in patients with cervical cancer. Older than45years old, severe pain, losing labor and despised by others, family or friends suffered from other cancers, low level of social support were risk factors for anxiety in patients with cervical cancer. Career as a civil servant or a public institution, having medical insurance for urban workers were protective factors for anxiety in patients with cervical cancer.Conclusion:Depressive and anxiety symptoms were two common psychiatric disorders in cervical cancer. older than45years old, the average annual household income of less than10,000yuan, moderate pain and severe pain, lack of knowledge of cervical disease, low level of social support were risk factors for depression in patients with cervical cancer. Older than45years old, severe pain, losing labor and despised by others, family or friends suffered from other cancers, low level of social support were risk factors for anxiety in patients with cervical cancer.
