Objective: To compare the effect of different dose of oxycodone injection on suppression of stress reaction during trachea intubation in general anesthesia. Methods: Seventy-five ASA I or II patients, who are about to receive trachea intubation, are divided into 3 groups of different levels of oxycodone injection: group I(low dose of oxycodone injection, 0.17mg/kg, iv), group II(medium dose of oxycodone injection, 0.25mg/kg, iv) or group III(high dose of oxycodone injection, 0.33mg/kg, iv) by the method of random number(n=25 for each group). Anesthesia was induced with intravenously infusion of midazolam 0.03 mg/kg, propofol 1mg/kg, previously mentioned different dose of oxycodone injection(slowly given for more than 15 s). Endotracheal intubation is carried out in 3 min with the help of 0.03 mg/kg cisatracurium besylate. Anesthesia is maintained with fentanyl and propofol. Systolic blood pressure(SBP), diastolic blood pressure(DBP), mean arterial pressure(MAP), heart rate(HR) are recorded before the induction(T0), after induction(T1), at the time of intubation(T2), 1 min after intubation(T3) and 10 min after intubation(T4). In addition, glucose(GLU), corticosteroid(COR) and epinephrine(E) in the serum are detected at the T0, T2 and T4 time point. Results: For 3 groups, SBP, DBP and HR at T1 are significantly lower than that of T0. SBP, DBP and HR of group I at T2-4 are significantly higher than that of T0. When compared with group II and III, SBP, DBP and HR of group I at T2-4 are significantly higher than that of T0. SBP, DBP and HR of group II at T2-3 are significantly higher than that of T0, while there is no significant difference between T4 and T0. When compared with T0, SBP, DBP and HR of T2-T4 of group III show no significant difference. GLU, COR and E at T2 and T4 in group I is significantly higher than that of T0. For group II, there is significant increase at T2 and slight increase at T4 when compared with T0. While for group III, there is some increase at T2 and slight decrease at T4 when compared with T0.Conclusion: oxycodone injection infusion can be used for the trachea intubation in anesthesia induction. Medium dose of oxycodone injection is helpful in reaching a stable sedation and reducing stimulation from drugs and endotracheal intubation. Oxycodone injection reduces stress reaction from intubation and keeps a balance of hemodynamics during the induction period of general anesthesia.
