Object i veUsing resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging(fMRI) to observe the effect of "Xingnao Kaiqiao" Acupuncture and sham acupoint acupuncture on the brain function in patients with dysphagia after stroke.MethodsTwelve patients who suffered from post-stroke dysphagia were divided randomly into two groups according to the random number table (treatment group, n=6;control group, n=6). The patients in the treatment group received the "Xingnao Kaiqiao" acupuncture treatment for ten times, and the patients in the control group received sham acupoint acupuncture treatment for ten times. Before and the day after the treatment, two groups of patients were assessed by resting-state fMRI and StandardizedSwal lowing Assessment, (SSA). To observe on brain functional areas in two groups before and after treatment by using regional homogeneity(ReHo), and to investigate the mechanism of acupuncture treatment for post-stroke dysphagiaResults1. In the treatment group, before and after treatment, difference of ReHo was significant (P<0.05) in the left anterior cingulated cortex, the right superior temporal regions, left supra marginal, right supra marignal. Otherwise, in the control group, difference of ReHo was not significant (P>0.05) in different encephalic region2. Before and after treatment, difference in SSA was significant (P<0. 05) in the two group. Suggesting that both the treatment in two groups were effective, Difference between the two group was significant (P<0.05) in SSA. Suggesting that the treatment in treatment group are more effective.ConelusionsThe "Xingnao Kaiqiao" acupuncture treatment could influence different encephalic regions in post-stroke dysphagia patients. The effective mechanism of acupuncture may related with the regions of the left anterior cingulate cortex, right superior temporal region, left supra marginal, right supra marignal. sham acupoint acupuncture treatment had no effect on the brain function for post-stroke dysphagia patients.
