ObjectivesThis research is about the treatment and follow-up of granulomatous mastitis patients in our hospital. We want to enhance the understanding of this disease and provide evidence for the clinical work.MethodsWe conduct the retrospective analysis of the inpatients and outpatients with GM from the Hospital. We collect the general message, diagnosis and treatment data. We evaluate breast shape, clinical effect, reoccurrence, the costs and the period of treatment. We Follow-up the cases before February 28, 2015 and summarize the data. The data we record in Excle 2003 and analyzed by SPSS 22.0. The results which P<0.05 are considered to have statistical significance.ResultsThe an average age of the 185 cases is 32.20±6.78.175 patients have given birth to child.151 of them used to receive treatment from another places. Mainly external therapy are the Chinese medicine (50 cases) and surgical excision including the lesionectomy (66cases) and extanded excision (69cases). Surgery group and Traditional Chinese Medicine group are statistically significant in the breast shape, the time and costs, the rate of reccurrence. There are not statistically significant in the therapeutic effect. In the surgery group, lesionectomy group and extanded excision are statistically significant in the clinical effect, the breast shape, and the time. Among patients are followuped from 3 to 108 months among which 15 recurrences are found. Through Chinese medicine, three antibacterial drugs regimens, surgery, hormone and the recurrence cases could be cured. ConclusionSurgery group is with lower recurrence rate, shorter time of treatment, but greater damage to the breast shape higher cost of treatment, than the Traditional Chinese Medicine group. Surgery group and the Traditional Chinese Medicine group have no significant differences in the clinical effect. Patients with lesser single nidus obtained better effect in group of acce pting external treatment of traditional Chinese medicine. In the Surgery group, lesionectomy is with the good shape but longer time than the expanded excision. Patients with large mass or complex conditions can consider the antibacterial treatment. It might be a good selection to take the hormone therapy locally for the not fully recovered patiends.
