Purpose: This paper aims to establish the pharmacognosy research of Rhizome et Radix Valeriana officinalis L., which raised in Jilin province. To provide scientific basis for quality evaluation, development and utilization of Jilin produced Rhizome et Radix Valeriana officinalis L.Method: According to the quality standardization of Chinese medicine requirements in the 2010 edition of Chinese Pharmacopoeia,employing the pharmacognostical methods which including morphological and histological characters obser ved, content of the extraction, essential oil, total ash, acid-insoluble ash, and moisture of 4 sa mples of Rhizome et Radix Valeriana officinalis L. raised in Jilin province were determined. Valeriana officinalis L was chosen as the mark constituent in quali tative identification analysis of the crude drug by TLC method. Characteristic of its composition of hesperidin and chlorogenic acid by thin-layer qualitative identification. Using steam distillation to extract volatile oil from Valeriana fauriei Briq and analyzing the composition of volatile oil by GC-MS. Further determination of hesperidin and chlorogenic acid content was used by HPLC method.Result: Thin-layer chromatography results show that the experiment valerian medicinal materials are preliminary detection, hesperidin and chlorogenic acid, types and valerian root of origin herbs extracts characteristics of thin layer spots are basically identical. Jilin province produces valerian medicinal material moisture content between 9.23 20.16%(cold soak method);Moisture content is between 11.15 and 25.53%(hot dip method);Between 3.48 and19.20% alcohol soluble extract content(cold soak method);Between 3.48 and 19.65% alcohol soluble extract content(hot dip method);Volatile ether extract content of between 1.28 and3.37%;The total ash content between 4.85 and 11.26%;Acid insoluble ash content between2.56 and 5.60%.Distance from the north valerian extract volatile oil by steam distillation, the content is 1%.By using the method of GC-MS analysis north valerian steam distillation extraction, this paper analyzes the chemical composition, 15 compounds were identified. The highest levels of components is bornyl acetate, the relative content of 21.675%;Secondly,camphene(camphene), relative content 7.831%;Again is the borneol(borneol), relativecontent 5.233%;Alpha pinene(alpha pinene), relative content 3.774%;Key leaf eucalyptus oil enol(Spathulend), relative content of 1.436%.By the method of HPLC, valerian medicinal materials of chlorogenic acid and hesperidin was determined by content, from the experiment of valerian samples are detected with chlorogenic acid and hesperidin, chlorogenic acid and the content of hesperidin is different between the various.Conclusion: Collected and compared in Jilin province to produce three kinds of valerian and Guangxi, Guizhou valerian, pharmacognosy studies, including the medicinal properties,microscopic identification were studied. Jilin province to produce valerian medicinal materials for experiment samples detection, hesperidin and chlorogenic acid, hesperidin and therefore the content determination of chlorogenic acid in Jilin province production plants of the genus valeriana is of great significance. Further improved the Valeriana amurensis Smir.ex Kom., Valeriana fauriei Briq.and Valeriana alternifolia Bunge var.stolonifera Bar.et Skv. of medicinal materials properties and microscopic identification of research content, and formulated the Jilin province of valerian medicinal materials quality standards...
