Comparative Observation Of Acupuncturing Heart Benefiting Recipe And Neiguan Point On The Effect Of Heart Rate Variability In Patients With Essential Hypertension

Objective: To observe the instant effect of acupuncturing heart benefiting recipe (Lingtai,Shendao, Neiguan points), compared with acupuncturing Neiguan points on both sides, onHRV with the frequency domain indexes of LF,HF and LF/HF in patients with essentialhypertension, which will provide objective basis for choosing the well-targeted acupointsfor heart diseases in the clinical work.Methods:45cases of patients with EH were randomly divided into two groups. Thetreatment group includes23patients who were treated by acupuncturing heart benefitingrecipe, while the control group consists of22patients with acupuncturing Neiguan pointsof both sides. Then the data of LF, HF, LF/HF were recorded and statistically analyzedwith3periods:5min before needling,5min retaining needles and5min after removingneedles.Results: After the treatment, intra-group comparison of both groups show that thereare significant differences of LF, HF, LF/HF existed not only in treatment group but also incontrol group. There was no statistical significance of the above indexes between the twogroups before treatment. During retaining needles and after removing needles, there was nostatistical significance of LF, but both HF and LF/HF were having significant differencesbetween the two groups. And the effect to HF and LF/HF of the treatment group is betterthan that of the control group.Conclusion: Both acupuncturing heart benefiting recipe and Neiguan points of bothsides can have effect on HRV in patients with essential hypertension. They could decreasethe activity of sympathetic nerve, increase the activity of vagus nerve and regulateautonomic nerve’s balance. And the group of heart benefiting recipe is more effective inadjusting vagus nerve’s activity and autonomic nerve’s balance.
