Object: By collecting clinical research articles in nearly a decade (2003to2012)published in the domestic official publication and dissertations on the treatment oftension-type headache using traditional Chinese medicine. Using data mining techniques,analyze sedative medicine laws in the application of tension-type headache.Methods: Retrieve literature of using TCM in the treatment of tension-type headachepublished in CNKI of recent ten years, and then find the target literature according to theinclusion criteria. Establish two databases on tram formed prescriptions of TCM andsedative medicine after data-cleaning with SPSS19.0. Through cluster analysis on the twodatabases, find close relations between two or more kinds of sedative medicine, in order toexplore the application of law about the using of sedative medicines in the treatment oftension-type headache.Results: Nine kinds of sedative medicines are found from High-frequency medicines.These nine kinds of herbs, in descending order, are Radix, Tianma, Scorpion, Semen,Skullcap, Poria, Codonopsis, Uncaria, Turmeric. All these sedative medicines take theproportion of34.9%in High-frequency medicines. All in all, sedative medicines take theproportion of5.7%in the whole database. Nine couples and eleven sets of high-frequencysedative medicines are found through cluster analysis on the two databases.Conclusion: Get the final classification of sedative medicines used in tension-typeheadache. In treating tension-type headache, choose these sedative medicine and their drugcouples and drug groups so as to enhance the efficacy of curing tension-type headache.
