There were five chapters in this thesis. The first chapter was a review on the advances of Cimicifuga. The phytochemical investigations of the rhizome of two medical plants, C.foetida and C. yunnanensis, were described in the second and third chapters respectively. The fourth chapter contained the research of bioactivity on9,19-cycloartane triterpenoidsa. The last chapter was a summary of this thesis. The Cimicifuga (Ranunculaceae) which comprises28species throughout the world mainly distributed in temperature zone in northern hemisphere. And there were15species in China where had abundant resources. In order to making full use of these resources, our group had made several systematical researches on chemical composition and bioactivity of Cimicifuga. As a result, several9,19-cycloartane triterpenoids with anti-tumor activities were obtained for the first time in China. To further searching for new antitumor lead compounds, the aerial part of C. yunnannensis which collected from Xianggelila and the rhizome of C.foetida which collected from Lijiang were used as experimental materials and total20compounds were isolated and identified by different spectroscopic and chemical methods. Among these compounds,19compounds were9,19-cyclolanostane triterpenes, including5new ones. The left one was a normal Chromoeone. The isolated compounds were tested for the inhibition of Wnt signaling pathway activity. As a result, two compounds had high inhibitory activity.
