ObjectThe midnight-noon ebb-flow of acu-point application used in the knee osteoarthritis patients, to evaluate it in improving the pain, joint dysfunction, balance clinical efficacy, anxiety and quality of life for the knee osteoarthritis patients. Therefore, regulate its operational processes in order to promote the development of traditional Chinese medicine nursing skills, and promote the study of acupoint application effect in order to promote the development of Traditional Chinese Medicinal external treatment.MethodA quasi-experimental study was used in the study. Accroding to the inclusion criteria of knee osteoarthritis, we conducted the trail from January through June2013,68patients of voluntary participants were screened in this study by using convenience sampling method in acupuncture department of Liucheng Wenjiang district community health center of Chengdu. The participants were randomly divided into trial and control groups by using a ballot law. Both groups were given basic treatment of local knee acu-point acupuncture for4weeks. Then34participants in trail group conducted the flowing acu-point patch, while other34cases in control group conducted the affected area acu-point patch, both treatment for4weeks. All subjects are evaluated for the pain and joint dysfunction by using the Short-form McGill pain questionnaire (SF-MPQ) and Oswestry Disability Index (ODI) before and after intervention for two weeks, four weeks, and eight weeks. Before and after4weeks intervention, evaluate clinical efficacy of by using Chinese version LequesneMG index. Assess the balance ability by using one leg standing time, timed up and go test (TUGT), the Berg Balance Scale (BBS) before and after intervention for4weeks. Before and after4weeks intervention, evaluate the anxiety and quality of by using Self-rating anxiety scale (SAS) and SF-36healthy survey scale (SF-36). ResultA total of60cases completedall data collection, which the trail group30cases (three cases lossed, one cases excluded), control group30cases (tow cases lossed, tow cases excluded).1. Pain evaluation results:after the intervention ateach time point the SF-MPQ scores of trial group were lower than the same period inthe control group, the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05); the further pairwise comparisons of SF-MPQ scores for each time point before and after the intervention, the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05).2. Dysfunction evaluation results:after the intervention at each time pointthe ODI scores of trail group were lower than the same period inthe control group, the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05); after the first two weeks of the intervention ODI score lower than the same period in the control group, the difference was not statistically significant(P>0.05); the further pairwise comparisons of ODI scores for each time point before and after the intervention, the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05).3. Balance evaluation results:after the interventionone leg standing time scores and BBS scores of the trail groupwere higher, the difference were statistically significant (P<0.05); the TUGT scores of trail group were lower than the control group, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05).4. Clinical evaluation of the results:after the intervention at each time pointthe LequesneMG scores of trail group were lower than the same period in the control group, the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05); the further pairwise comparisons of LequesneMG scores for each time point before and after the intervention, the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). Two groups of clinical curative effect, the trail group curative effect is better than that of the control group (P<0.05).5. Anxiety and quality of life evaluation results:after the intervention the SAS scores of the trail group were lower than the control group, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05); after the intervention the eight dimensions scores of SF-36of the trail group were higher, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05).ConclusionMidnight-noon ebb-flow of acu-point application can relieve joint pain of KOA patients, alleviating joint dysfunction, and the effects increased with the increase over time. As well as it alsocan improve the balance, strengthen clinical effects, reduce anxiety and improve quality of life. Therefore, Midnight-noon ebb-flow of acu-point application on KOA patients was significantly higher than the affected area acu-point application. As a common Chinese medicine nursing skill, it is worth popularization and application in clinical and community...
