bjective: To evaluate the expression of5-LOX inmeningiomas in order to investigate its in meningiomas, development andevolution of significance. Methods:①Experiments with samples fromMarch2012to January2013Luzhou Medical College Hospitalneurosurgery craniotomy resection and confirmed by pathologicalexamination by the meningioma tissue,65cases. In all cases nopreoperative chemotherapy and (or) radiation therapy, or other relatedtreatment, and each meningioma pathological specimens and clinical data(including image data) are complete. Meningeal tissue of normal controlgroup (both arachnoid tissue), are derived from patients with acute severeclosed head trauma inside and outside the decompression line, a total of15cases..②The World Health Organization’s (WHO)2007standard andits pathological grade meningioma divided into two groups after samplepreparation..③All the control group specimens were frozen, in12hours after the separation of human internal fixation treatment.④Meningioma and normal meningeal tissue immunohistochemicalstreptavidin-biotin-peroxidase linked (SP) staining treatment, detectionof which5-LOX expression.⑤Statistics were observed and5-LOX bytwo statisticians in meningioma tissue and normal expression ofarachnoid (mainly5-LOX expression in cells as well as the location andcolor of positive cells in the selected vision the proportion). Results:① 5-LOX expression in arachnoid tissue (11cases were negative,4caseswere weak positive), No positive and strongly positive cases; Expressedin meningioma tissue (8cases were negative,20cases were weakpositive,19cases were positive,18cases were strong positive),having thestatistical differences(2=15.886,P=0.000<0.05).②There are8casesof negative、19cases of weak positive、15cases of positive、14cases ofstrong positive expressioned in gradeⅠmeningiomas tissues;and there are1case of weak positive、4cases of positive、4cases of strong positiveexpressioned in gradeⅡmeningiomas tissues,no cases of negative. Thereare statistically significant differences between the two(2=4.353,P=0.038<0.05).③Grade I meningioma associated with peritumoral edemaare23cases, edema rate is69.7%; GradeⅡmeningioma associated withperitumoral edema are8cases, edema rate is88.9%. Significantdifferencec(2=7.107,P=0.008<0.05).④There is a certain relationshipbetween the positive expression rate(the number of positive cases andstrong positive cases and the number of accounts for the total proportionof grade I meningioma specimens) of5-LOX and peritumoral edema ingradeⅠmeningioma(2=5.731,P<0.05,=0.304); There is a certainrelationship between the positive expression rate(the number of positivecases and strong positive cases and the number of accounts for the totalproportion of grade Ⅱ meningioma specimens) of5-LOX andperitumoral edema in gradeⅡmeningioma(2=9,P<0.05,=0.707).⑤ 27male patients,24cases were graded as grade I,3cases of grade II;38cases of female patients,32cases were graded as grade I,6cases of gradeⅡ,no significant relationship between gender and tumor grade(2=0.29,p=0.59>0.05).⑥27male patients,11cases of5-LOX negative expression,5-LOX expression was positive in16cases;38cases of female patients,17cases of5-LOX negative expression,5-LOX expression was positivein21cases, No significant relationship between5-LOX expression andtumor in gender(2=0.103,p=0.749>0.05). Conclusion:①Expression rateof5-LOX in meningiomas tissues was significantly higher than that innormal brain tissue,that over expression of5-LOX may be involved inthe speculation of meningioma.②The positive expression of5-LOX ingrade II meningioma tissues is higher than the rate of positive expressionin the grade I meningioma tissues.So Can be speculated thatoverexpression of5-LOX may be a link between classification ofmeningiomas and meningioma grading.③The positive expression of5-LOX in grade I meningioma tissues was lower than that in grade IImeningioma,and grade I meningioma peritumoral edema rate also lessthan grade II meningioma peritumoral edema rate.means the positiveexpression of5-LOX and peritumoral edema have some relevance.④Noclear relationship between5-LOX expression and gender andmeningioma tumor grade...
