Study on the basis of material of traditional Chinese medicine which is an important part of the modernization of Chinese medicine is a prerequisite to clarify the efficacy of traditional Chinese medicine material, pharmacological effects,clinical efficacy and its mechanism,also is an important foundation for the deep development of traditional Chinese medicine prescription and improving technology and dosage form and establishing the quality standard and improving clinical efficacy.The idea and method of material basis research on traditional Chinese medicine come from the western countries, which is to extract and isolate and identify the chemical composition of plant,and then screen the biological activity and determine effective components and clarify the basis mechanism of the material. Although this method is becoming more and more questioned by the scholars in recent years, it is still an irreplaceable method to discovery the structural diversity and activities t of lead compounds,and get the scarcity of standard samples and prepare pharmacological activity sample.In recent years, the study of pain has increasingly become the focus of neurological research field. In the process of looking for analgesic drug, traditional Chinese medicine and natural medicine gradually attract the attention of scholars because of the low addiction, less side effects and rich in resources Benzoin which belongs to one of foreign medicine is the dry resin from Styrax tonkinensis which is distributed in several regions of South-East Asia such as Vietnam and Thailand. Benzoin which is one of the most frequent use of resuscitation medicine has the efficacy of resuscitating someone and activating blood and releasing pneumatosis and relieving pain.It had been regarded as medicine in one thousand years ago and recorded in Tang materia medica. Benzoin mainly used to treat stroke phlegm syncope and heart pain and postpartum fainting and sudden syncope and so on. Modern pharmacological studies suggest Benzoin also have the efficacy of resisting inflammatory and antipyretic and promoting the permeability of blood brain harrier and antineoplastic.Through reading the literature,we found less report about the study of the chemical composition of Styrax tonkinensis.One of the study of the chemical composition of Styrax tonkinensis is qualitative research of the structure of the volatile components by GC-MS.The other study is the research of the non-valatile composition by using column chromatography and the study had got some achievements,but all the composition is mainly used for the research of antitumor activity.At the same time,there are some limitations for looking for the new compound because of a small quantity of the Styrax tonkinensis extracts we had used to isolate.The destination of our study on chemical composition of Styrax tonkinensis is getting a large quantity of compound in order to provide guarantee for pharmacological effects such as the analgesic activity and quality standards.The paper divided into three parts.The first part mainly introduced the basis information of Benzoin such as its efficacy and traits and resource distribution and chemical constituents and pharmacological and quality Through reading the literature.The second part is on the chemical study of the dry resin from Styrax tonkinensis. The extractum of different polarity parts were isolated and purified by silica gel,C18 silica gel,Sephadex LH-20 and other separation methods from 95% ethanol extraction of the dry resin from Styrax tonkinensis.The structure of sixteen compounds were elucidated by 1H-NMR and 13C-NMR and MS spectra and chemical propertyes.The third part is about the conclusion and outlook of the paper.Sixteen compounds were isolated from 95% ethanol extraction of the dry resin from Styrax tonkinensis(Pierre) Craib ex Hart.And all the compounds were identified by spectral methods and physic-chemical data.They were 3-oxo-olean-11,13(18)-dien-19β,28-olide(1), 3β,6β-dihydroxy-12-oxo-13Hα-olean-19β,28-olide( 2), 3β-dihydroxy-12-oxo-13Hα-olean-19β,28-olide( 3),3β,6β-dihydroxy-11α,12α-epoxyolean-13β,28-olide( 4),6β-hydroxy-3-oxo-olean-12-en-28-oic acid(5),myrsinene(6),oleanolic acid(7),sumaresinolic acid( 8), siaresinolic acid( 9), benzyl benzoate( 10), trans-(tetrahydro-2-(4-hydroxy-3-methoxyphenyl)-5-oxofuran-3-yl)methyl benzoate(11),coniferyl aldehyde(12),dehydrodivanillin(13),vanillin(14),vanillic acid(15),benzoic acid(16)。...
