The Clinical Observation Of Treating Cardiac Neurosis From Qi And Yin Deficiency Using Modified Wu Wei Zi Decoction

Objective:To discuss the efficacy of treating patients suffering from cardiac neurosis due to Qi and Yin deficiency using Modified Wu Wei Zi decoction by performing a comparative study that observes the accumulated TCM symptom scores and changes in the resting heart rates before and after treatment.Method:This study consists of 35 patients who have met the screening criteria and were also hospitalized at the First Affiliated Hospital of Heilongjiang University of Chinese Medicine due to cardiac neurosis from Qi and Yin deficiency. It uses the before-and-after comparative method of treatment to evaluate the efficacy of the treatment. Over a course of two weeks, enrolled patients were given 150ml of Modified Wu Wei Zi decoction twice a day (Ingredients:Sheng Shai Shen lOg, Huang Qi 15g, Wu Wei Zi 15g, Mai Dong 15g, Bai He lOg, Honey-fried Gan Cao 10g). The patients’ accumulated TCM symptom scores and the changes in their resting heart rates before and after the treatment were recorded and compared.Results:1. The accumulated TCM symptom scores after receiving treatment were significantly lower than that before the treatment, giving statistical significance to the study (P<0.05).2. Efficacy of the treatment:After taking Modified Wu Wei Zi decoction for 2 weeks, two patients were completely cured (5.71%), eleven patients showed considerable improvement (31.43%), thirteen patients showed slight improvement (37.14%), and nine patients showed no improvement (25.71%), for a total efficacy rate of 74.29%.3. After receiving treatment the patients’ resting heart rates were significantly lower than that before the treatment, giving statistical significance to the study (P<0.05). 4. No adverse events occurred in the course of this study.Conclusion:1. Modified Wu Wei Zi decoction has the ability to decrease the TCM symptom scores of patients suffering from cardiac neurosis due to Qi and Yin deficiency as well as improve cardiac neurosis symptoms;2. Modified Wu Wei Zi decoction has the ability to decrease the resting heart rates of patients suffering from cardiac neurosis due to Qi and Yin deficiency.
