Objective To observe the therapeutic effect of Chinese medicine acupoint plaster on osteoporosis in postmenopausal patients by compare of lumbar bone mineral density(BMD), VAS pain score, bone conversion index BALP and TRACP5b, SF-36 quality of life score, and provide an alternative treatment. Methods Cases from postmenopausal osteoporosis patients who get treatment in Xinhua Hospital of Zhejiang Province during January 2015 to December 2015. The 360 patients who met the inclusion criteria were randomly divided into three groups, the treatment group A(Chinese medicine acupoint plaster), the control group B(QiangGuYin) and the control group C(Alfacalcidol and Caltrate D), each of the 120 cases. The group A take Chinese medicine acupoint plaster(topical 8 hours, every other day a replacement, deactivate 1 month with every 3 months, for a period of 12 months), the group B take QiangGuYin(2 times a day, deactivate 1 month with every 3 months, for a period of 12 months), the group C take Alfacalcidol and Caltrate D(1 times a day, deactivate 1 month with every 3 months, for a period of 12 months). Compare the lumbar bone mineral density(BMD), VAS pain score, BALP and TRACP5b, SF-36 quality of life score of the three groups of patients, before treatment, treatment in April, treatment in August and treatment in December, and analyse the obtained data. Results A total of 320 patients completed the follow-up, including 104 patients in group A, 102 patients in group B and 114 patients in group C. In BMD, three groups have different degrees of increase, B>A>C. In VAS pain score, three groups have different degrees of reduction, A>B>C. In BALP, three groups have different degrees of increase, B>A>C. In TRACP5b, three groups have different degrees of reduction in August, but three groups showed a very gradual increase in December. In SF-36 quality of life score, three groups have different degrees of improvement, B>A>C.Conclusion The clinical effect of Chinese medicine acupoint plaster was satisfied. It can increase lumbar bone mineral density, reduce osteoporotic pain, regulate the negative balance state of bone turnover and improve the quality of life.
