| Objective Essential hypertension is one of the most common chronic disease in community in our country. It is also an important cause of heart cerebrovascular accident in our country. Some research indicated that they had found a close link between homocysteine and cardiocerebrovascular events due to hypertension. There was a higher proportion of H-type hypertension in patients with hypertension in our country.Hyperhomocysteinemia increases the morbidity and mortality of stroke and peripheral vascular disease. The purpose of this paper is to definite the relevance to the blood pressure of patients with essential hypertension in the community and the basic level of plasma homocysteine, and to analysis the relationship between plasma homocysteine and blood pressure. To investigate the impact of adding folic acid to the standard antihypertensive medication on plasma homocysteine levels in patients with essential hypertensive. Methods 1.Selected 242 cases of essential hypertensive patients, measured their blood pressure and plasma homocysteine levels when they were selected.2.242 essential hypertensive patients in community were randomly devided into two groups:group 1(standard medication),group 2(adding folic acid 0.25 mg twice daily).3.Plasma Hcy level was deceted at baseline and one-year the therapy.Result 1.There was no statistically significant difference between the homocysteine levels at baseline of group 2 and group 1(P > 0.05).2.There were no changes in group 1,in the plasma Hcy level at baseline(14.2±4.8)μmol/L and the one-year therapy(14.9±4.7)μmol/L(all P>0.05).3.The plasma Hcy level(9.1±2.7)μmol/L was significantly decreased after the one-year treatment-than-baseline value(15.3±4.6)μmol/L(all P<0.05) in group 2.Conclusions The supplementation of folic acid could significantly reduce plasma Hcy level, which may play a positive role in the prevention of cardiovascular events. |
