To Observe The Curative Effect Of Guizhi Gegen Decoction On Ankylosing Spondylitis(AS)

ObjectiveTo observe the clinical effect of Guizhi Gegen Decoction in the treatment of AS, in order to provide a foundation for future clinical application of Chinese medicine treatment of the disease.MethodsTo objectively evaluate the efficacy of Guizhi Gegen Decoction in the treatment of AS with standard of diagnosis and therapeutic effect of TCM syndrome wrote by The Department of Health Bureau of Drug Administration and the Data through statistical analysis, which collected from tracking mentor follow-up outpatient and hospitalized patients,40 cases of AS patients which were selected, randomly divided into western medicine group (control group, n= 20), traditional Chinese medicine and Western medicine group (experimental group,20 cases of), respectively, track and record the data before and after the treatment, such as VAS score, Bath AS metrology index score, BASFI score, peripheral joint swelling scores.Results1. Experimental group and control group with their respective BASFI score, VAS score, Bath AS metrology index score, morning stiffness time were compared with the first diagnosis after 3 months and 6 months’ treatment, which showed significant statistical difference (BASFI score, VAS score, bath score, morning stiffness time such as detection index p<0.01). The two groups of patients with peripheral joint swelling score compared with the first diagnosis after 3 months and 6 months’treatment, showed that the difference among the number of standard deviation is 0, which means no significant statistical difference.2. There was a very significant statistical difference (p<0.01) among two groups of patients with their respective ESR, CRP index values compared with the first diagnosis after 3 months and 6 months’treatment.3. There was no significant statistical difference (BASFI score, VAS score, bath score, the time of morning detection index p>0.05) among the two groups of BASFI score, VAS score, Bath AS metrology index score, morning stiffness time after treatment for 3 months and 6 months.4. The total effective rate of the experimental group was 90%, and the control group was 90%. The overall efficacy of the two groups was 80% in the experimental group and 55% in the control group.5. In the course of treatment, two groups of 40 patients had no significant abnormal changes in vital signs, no significant adverse reactions, liver and kidney function indexes were in normal range before and after treatment.ConclusionGuizhi Gegen Decoction can effectively improve patients with AS pain, stiffness and limitation of activity, which is a valid prescription in the treatment of AS. At present in CHINA and abroad for the treatment of AS are mainly to anti-inflammatory pain, targeted therapy, etc. Relative side effect is bigger, dosage, duration is still in dispute, and the treatment cost is higher. This study suggests that treatment with Guizhi Gegen Decoction, can effectively alleviate the side effects of Western medicine and biological agents. Guizhi Gegen Decoction can provide the remarkable curative effect, which shows the clinical advantages of traditional Chinese medicine in the treatment of AS, and it can reduce the economic burden of the patients. In the future, Guizhi Gegen Decoction can be considered to be used with western medicine in the treatment of AS. However, due to the small sample size, whether it can control the disease in the long term, or even reverse the destruction of bone still needs further clinical trials and long-term observation and follow-up.
