| ObjectiveTo study the intervention effects of syndrome differentiation and treatment of TCM to anti-VEGF therapy of wet age-related macular degeneration (AMD).Expect to establish a optimal therapeutic scheme of the combined treatment at the end by comparing the clinic efficacy, expenses and security between treatment groupsMethodsIn this retrospective study, the patients were divided into two groups.’Group A just received anti-VEGF treatment; Group B adapted comprehensive treatment combining differential treatment with anti-VEGF, who received the international standardized anti-VEGF treatment of wAMD. We recorded the changes of each index, including best corrected visual acuity (BCVA), central thickness, retinal thickness and volume of macular area before and 4 weeks,8 weeks,12weeks afterward the primary anti-VEGF treatment. Compared the average intervals in the primary 3 months, times of intravitreous injection in 6 months and 12 months, and also observed the systemic and optical complications. To analyze statistics with SPSS 20.0 software.Results1.BCVAIn 4 weeks,8 weeks and 12 weeks after treatment, BCVA was persistently higher than that of each stage (P<0.05) both Group A and Group B. The degree of improvement about BCVA in group B was significantly higher than Group A between the last 8 weeks.2. Macular morphological indexesGroup A and Group B both showed that the central thickness, retinal average thickness and retinal volume of macular lesion gradually descended (P< 0.05)following the first 3 months’observation period. But the improvement level of macular morphological indexes between Group B and Group A was inconsistent and unparallel at different interview points. On the whole, Group B was slightly better than Group A3. Travitreous injection interval and timesThe average intravitreal interval in the initial 3 months and the travitreous injection times in the 6 months between Group A and Group B both had no significantly differences (P>0.05), but in the one year observation period, the differences about the travitreous injection times among the groups is statistically significant (P<0.05).4. Therapeutic securityThere were no severe systemic adverse events in the observation process both Group B and Group A. Two eyes (5%) suffered intraocular pressure and one eye (2.5%) occured transient corneal epithelial defect in Group A, but no severe ocular complications happened in Group B.ConclusionThe individualized treatment program of dialectical synthesis of Chinese Medicine can efficiently improve the efficacy, save the medical expenses and enhance the safety of anti-VEGF therapy-alone treatment to wAMD. |
