Objective: To explore the clinical features of chronic migraine(CM)with or without medication overuse, diagnosis and 1 year outcome, and test the International Classification of Headache Disorders 3rd edition beta version criteria(ICHD-3beta).Methods: Retrospectively studied the clinical feature, overused analgesic about clinical CM patients in our headache clinic during the year of 2014, evaluated ICHD-3beta diagnostic criteria and treatment outcome. Results: A total of 95 CM patients included, and 71(74.7%) of them with medication overuse. Only 5 patients had migraine with aura(MA),17 had probable migraine(PM). Most patients overused headache powder,so caffeine and acetaminophen were the most overused components. However,14.7% patients could not fulfill the ICHD-3beta B criterion, while 18.9%patients could not fulfill with C criterion, and most of them were PM.70.4% patients had significant remission, while 34% patients relapsed after1 year. Conclusion: The demographic characteristics of CM with or without medication overused patients were similar with previous study, while thecategories of overused medication were variable from different regions.ICHD-3beta criteria of CM still need further revise, and it will be appropriate if change C criterion to fulfilling PM. The curative effect for CM in clinical is not bad, but that patients couldn’t continue prophylactic treatment and the high rate of relapse is the main problem.
