| Objective:This article reviewed the research status of APBI after Breast conserving surgery based on the application, existing technical, prognosis and side reactions, which might be conductive to the reference for oncologists. Background: Breast cancer is one of the highest morbidity and mortality disease in women worldwide. To replace whole breast irradiation(WBI), more attention is paid nowadays to the accelerated partial breast irradiation(APBI) after breast conserving surgery because of its microlesion, short course, good local recurrence and survival. But the criteria for inclusion is still strict, furthermore, we don’t have enough data to support it. The clinical data of its Long-term effects is in progress. Methods: Review the literatures and analysis the progress of APBI in its inclusion criteria, the choice of radiotherapy, the advantages and disadvantages compared with WBI.Results: APBI as a new way to replace WBI, has less irradiation time and higher dose each time. Patients with strict screening can achieve the same biological effect as WBI. It can shorten the treatment time, reduce the side reactions and improve the quality of life of the patients. Existing phase II clinical trials pointed out that there is no significant difference between APBI and WBI. More phase III clinical trials are ongoing. Conclusion:Patients screened and the type of treatment still need more study. |
