Recently, Harry Potter series written by J. K. Rowling who is the British author have become theheated topic in European even in all over the world. From the publication of Harry Potter series to now,the study of it is various in the fields of scholar. It has the tendency of diversification. However, theresearch of the aspect of poetics is not enough. The paper based on the version of Harry Potter and theHalf-Blood Prince to analyze text from the perspective of poetics. The aim is to do some meaningfulexploration for the study of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.With the appearance of the concept of the cultural turn in1980s, it has great influence on the fieldsof translation. Translation study is not any from the perspective of linguistics more. But it relates toother subjects from the aspect of culture.Lefevere is one of the major representatives of the school of culture. He puts forward to thetranslation manipulation theory. He thinks that the translator may be influenced and limited by somefactors in the process of translation, which decide the translated version and acceptability to somedegree. Actually, he considers that translation is a kind process of rewriting. Whereas the “controlfactors” gave us the knowledge of translator’s rewriting degree of the original. Ideology, poetics andpatronage are three factors which divided by Lefevere. There are two aspects in manipulations ofpoetics on translation: one is manipulation on the text namely application of translation strategies andtranslation language; the other is manipulation beyond the text, and it reflected in the aspect of textselection, translation purposes, etc.According to the Lefevere’s manipulation theory, the author analyzes the Chinese version ofHarry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince from the perspective of poetics in manipulation translation.The paper classified into six parts:The first part gives introduction of paper’s study background, research purposes, influence of thestudy and the structure of the thesis.The second part is literature review. This part is looking back to the children literature translation,development and the major way of studying children literature.The third part is the theoretical framework. It gives introduction of manipulation theory and theconcept, influence of poetics.The fourth part is the research design.The fifth part is the detail analysis of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince from the perspective of poetics under the Lefevere’s manipulation theory.The sixth part is the conclusions. It gives the conclusion of the whole paper. Moreover, there is themore space for further study of the novel of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.
