On The Translation Of Su Nong’s Version Of Harry Potter And The Philosopher’s Stone From The Perspective Of Three Elements Of Children’s Literature

Harry Potter is one of the most famous magic novels in the western world.This novel mainly describes the adventure and life of a teenager Harry and his friends,which is particularly favored by young readers.With the spread of Harry Potter,the number of its translation versions is increasing.In the academic field,more and more scholars are engaging in the evaluation,comparison and analysis of these translation versions.This paper takes Su Nong’s translation of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone as analytical texttostudy the translation of children’s literature.By using the methods of literature research and interdisciplinary research,this paper summarizes three elements of children’s literature,and provides reference for the translation field theoretically and practically.This paper is divided into 7 parts.The first part is the introduction,which mainly deals withliterature review,purpose and significance as well as research questions of the thesis.The second part is about the detailedexplanation of three elements of children’s literature.The third part introduces the personal life of the author J.K.Rowling and her inspiration of creating Harry Potter,as well as the translator’s experience and the synopsis of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.The fourth part,the fifth part and the sixth part,analyze Su Nong’s translation in detail fromthree aspects: the description of distinctive characters,the application of childlike languages and the expression of imagination.These three parts point out Su Nong’s translation strategies and effects,and dialectically assess its advantages and shortcomings.The last part is the conclusion and supplement of the paper.The translation of children’s literature is an indispensable part of contemporary translation.It is an important task for our translators to introduce goodforeign children’s literature works for people.In China,the translation of children’s literature can help Chinese children learn foreign advanced culture,cultivate goodcharacters as well as enhance their imagination and widen their horizons.A strong youth makes a powerful country.Therefore,the translation scholars should work together to make use of the advantages of foreign culture and educate the next promising generations.
