As a cross-cultural communication activity, translation is not only the conversion between two languages, but also the exchange of social and cultural information of different nations. Unlike other translation fields, literature translation, especially the translation of novel is actually a process of artistic re-creation, during which translator’s subjectivity is required frequently.Taking the translation of A Picture with Yuki (written by Miroslav Penkov from Bulgaria) as a project, this report summarizes a series of difficulties and corresponding solutions in the process of translating it into Chinese under the supervision of the reporter’s advisor.Through the comparison and analysis of the original and target text, the author found out that to make the target text easier to read and accept, the translator sometimes must act as a "betrayer", that is to say, he or she has to use his or her subjectivity. The employment of creative treason in the process of literature translation is a smart strategy to break the bond of pure linguistic transfer."Creative" means recreation within the confines of the original text, and "treason" means the allowance of variation in expression in case of insurmountable barriers. Successful treason is based on the translator’s subjectivity,Trying to show the importance of taking the translator’s subjectivity into consideration in the process of literature translation, the author mainly applied the method of creative treason in translating the English short novel into Chinese.
