Early city refers to the city between Yangshao period and before the demise of the Shang Dynasty this time. Article based has been published and reported archaeological materials, use of archaeology and historical philology, architecture, statistics and other disciplines intersect research methods, depth study of the morphology, construction technology, facilities and classification problems related to early city.The full text is divided into five chapters:The first chapter is the introduction. Discuss each stage gate was found and its characteristics, the early development of city gates can be divided into three stages of Yangshao period, Longshan period and Xiashang period, considered the evolution of the early city gates experienced of the formative of Yangshao period, development of Longshan period and stereotypes of Xiashang period three stages.The third chapter is the research of the city gate construction. Analysis three problems of the city gate morphology, city gate building technology and city gates affiliated facilities construction respectively. Considered that city gate of planar shape, three-dimensional structure and components is a dynamic development process, city gate construction techniques can be divided into Hangzhu,Qizhu and Duizhu, city gate ancillary facilities has gone from less to more, from more casual to regular evolution trend.The fourth chapter is the study of the classification and subarea. This chapter studies on the basis of the previous text, depending on the different classification standards,such as traffic,building material,the wall width of the city gate,position relationship with wall, the early city gate is divided into Land gate, Water gate, Tu gate, Stone gate, the same width type, widen type, straight type, convex type, concave type,etc, and then the gates of the early city will be distributed to three regions of Zhongyuan Zone, Northern Zone, South Zone.The fifth chapter is the conclusion part. The main text is summarized view that the early city has been constructed a more complete city gates facilities, this had a significant impact for later city gate construction, at the same time, points out the defects and shortcomings of the article.
