Problems And Countermeasures In The Construction Of City Culture

Shantou, the birthplace of Chaoshan history and culture, is the center city of eastern Guangdong region. Currently, Shantou faces many problems on cultural construction. These problems are case by strong-culture shock and aggression, as well as urban and rural wealth gap. How to bring up the city spirit of Shantou, to refine her core values, and to build up her own city value system; how to build a heritage context and distinctive city image that basing on Shantou geographic patterns and cultural accumulation; what’s more, how to improve local government’s ability of management, to improve the quality of people, and to enhance overall competitiveness, these are the focus of this article to be discussed. Finally, this article will make conclusion that based on a comprehensive analysis of all the research materials on Shantou SEZ culture.
