Junior high school period is an important period of a person’s physical and mental rapid growth, during this period, significantly weakened parental role models, contradictions between parents and children. If the parents take an active parenting education process in the family way, the children will grow up healthily, and they can get good social adaptability. And if parents take a negative parenting style, the children will meet many psychological and social adaptation problems.In this study, there are 362 Dai middle school students. I used EMBU, MSSMHS and "junior high adaptability questionnaire" as the research tools for parents of Dai middle school student. I studied not only the parenting styles, the mental health and social adaptation but also the relationship between them, concluded as follows:l.The Dai parents in Mans adopted the basic parental punishment, interference, reject, prefer as the main way of parenting but less use of warmth and understanding of family rearing patterns. They are strict with boys and concerned more about the Grade 1 students. The countryside school students experience more negative family rearing patterns.2.Dai junior high school students’ mental health is not optimistic in Mans area. The mental health of boys are worse than girls, Grade 3 students’ mental health problems are more serious than Grade 3 students. The student mental health are more seriously in rural schools.3.Junior high Dai school students in Mans have low social adaptability. Boys’social adaptability is much too lower than girls. And there was no significant difference between the various grades and urban and rural.4.There is a great relationship between Dai family rearing patterns and the junior high school students’ mental health. There is a significant negative correlation between Fathers’ and mothers’warmth and understanding and mental health. Parental punishment, denial and fathers’ over protection, mothers’prefer subjects are related to mental health, and it is a significant positive correlation. Fathers’punishment, the mothers’ refused or deny, the mother s’ warmth and understanding can greatly effect junior high school Dai students’ mental health. The father and mother’s denies, refusing, punishment has positive effect, mothers’ warmth and understanding is a significant negative predictor.5.There is a great relationship between Dai family rearing patterns and the junior high school students’ mental health social adaptation. There is a significant positive correlation between parental warmth and understanding and social adaptation. Parental punishment and his father refused or deny was significantly negatively correlated with social adaptation. Father s’ punishment, mothers’ warmth and understanding can significant predictive effect on junior high school Dai students’ social adaptation. Mothers’ warmth and understanding has a significant positive effect on students’ social adaptation. And fathers’ punishment and favoritism are opposite.
